Self-Care is important

With all of this social distancing going on, it’s very easy for your soul to not feel like it’s normal self right now. Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert this can definitely affect you and maybe in ways you didn’t expect. During this time I’ve reminded myself to do those things that I’ve learned that feeds my soul. For me that is getting outdoors to feel the sun, taking pictures, cooking, being near water, and laughing with my friends. I can do all of those things and still practice social distancing.

“Self-care is never a selfish act – it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others. Anytime we can listen to true self and give the care it requires, we do it not only for ourselves, but for the many others whose lives we touch.”

― Parker Palmer

One way I laugh with my friends is using the App Marco polo. Since I live in Germany it can be a little difficult calling my stateside friends when I want, so with Marcopolo I can record myself and they can watch and respond when they have the time. I love it. It takes a little getting use to but when you do you will use it everyday. This allows me to keep up with what’s going on in their lives and fill the void of speaking live with them. You can chat with one person or have a party with a group.

Yes, our lives have changed drastically at the moment, but don’t allow that to be a reason to not take care of yourself. Do those things that bring you joy and if you don’t know what those things are then now is a perfect time to figure it out.

Breathe In…….Breathe Out
