The land of the million flowers. Literally…. there are over 7 million spring-flowering bulbs planted in this beautiful garden located in Lisse, Holland. I’ve never seen a place with so many beautiful flowers and different varieties. You can literally spend ALL day just staring at the flowers.

The skinny on our trip to Keukenhof.
First off, you should bookmark the website. Since we currently live in Germany, that allowed us to have a little more flexibility to visit the park and surrounding area once everything was blooming, because that will differ year to year depending on the weather. We drove it, so I can’t share any experience of flying in and making the trip. We drove up from the Ramstein, Germany area. It was a very easy drive and we made several stops along the way. I’ll give you those details on another post. Teaser…windmills are involved. Their website will keep you up to date on the park and when it’s officially open. There is also a Flower Parade that will run right down the Keukenhof blvd. The website will have the info for this as well.
Secondly, get your tickets in advance. This is a tip that I use for ALL of my travels. It prevents the long waiting lines and when you have your family with you, this helps prevent the…..”This line is sooooo long” comments, then attention spans are now gone!!! It’s very easy to get your tickets and reserve your parking ahead of time. They have a couple of parking lots nearby so we didn’t have any issues parking. Just a side note, the first time we went, we arrived when it opened, so the crowd was a lot less. I could tell by mid-day the crowd had increased and you could feel the difference so probably the earlier the better for parking and for enjoying the park. You can also download a map of the park which I would suggest so you don’t miss any of the exhibits.
Third – there are tulip fields near the park. The first year we were able to go into the field and take pics but last year they had put up new fencing so that put a stop to that but I believe there are other ones in the area you can visit. You can take a whisper boat ride around these fields to give you a closer look. The tulips here are overwhelmingly beautiful.

“Love is like a beautiful flower which I may not touch, but whose fragrance makes the garden a place of delight just the same.” – Helen Keller
Visit The Garden
The aroma that tickles your nose as you walk into the park is breathtaking. It’s such a sweet smell that you wish you could bottle it up and take it home with you. We were in the park first thing in the morning. You could still see the dew on the flowers, which was so beautiful. There are rows and rows of flowers and of any variety you can imagine and didn’t know even existed. Each flower has a name so you know exactly what you’re looking at. Every year the park has a theme. This year is World of Colors and last year it was Flower Power. Unfortunately, the park will not be open this year to the public but you can still visit it virtually.
There’s a cafe on the premise so if you get the munchies, there are options. There were also a few places throughout the park to grab a snack. There are different exhibits throughout the park that you don’t want to miss. My favorite is the Orchid exhibit. This is my favorite flower so I could have spent all day just in this building. You can spend half a day here, in the park, if not more time. It will depend on how much you enjoy flowers. My husband was probably done after the first hour…lol.
You can also start your own flower garden because they have flower bulbs you can bring home. I was tempted to bring some home but I’m not very good at taking care of plants…lol.
If you love flowers and your allergies can handle it, then I would put Keukenhof on your bucket list for a future visit.

Beautiful photos and thanks for the personal Travel recommendations! Perfect timing for COVID!
