Have you ever experienced an Easter Market? I never had until we came to Germany to live. One thing that I’ve learned living here is that Germans know how to celebrate. This market was no different. It’s such a breath of fresh air walking around this market because it’s usually happening right around the weather changing and becoming a little warmer. The flowers and trees are starting to bloom and seeing the decorated booths makes you feel that Spring is here to stay.

The market itself consists of lot’s of cute wooden booths with vendors selling local handmade and regional goods for purchase. The booths are decorated in a Spring theme with lots of eggs and bunnies everywhere. You see a lot of pastel colors and smiles on the faces of those visiting as they move from booth to booth mesmerized by the goods and food being showcased at each booth. You can normally communicate with the vendors even if you don’t speak fluent German. Hand signing and pointing works perfect…lol. Knowing a few phrases help a lot or have a translator on your phone. At the booths you’ll find handmade pottery, intricately decorated eggs, handmade clothing, jewelry, and so much more. You learn from attending these markets that if you see something you like go ahead and get it because you may never see anything like it anywhere else.
The big draw of the market is the Easter Crown. It’s a big crown structure that is covered with live greenery and beautifully decorated with more than 2,000 hand painted eggs and framed by Spring flowers at the base. It is the highlight of the market and something you don’t want to miss.
If you find yourself headed to this market, I would suggest you go early. Parking will be better and the crowds will be less. I like to arrive a little bit before the booths open just so I can walk around a bit and get my bearings. It’s more challenging to do that when it’s elbow to elbow with people. If you live in the Ramstein area it’s about 40 minutes and about 2 hours 20 minutes from the Stuttgart area.
Hopefully next year you’ll be able to visit if you find yourself in the area.
Frohe Ostern (Happy Easter)

Wow!! I love the colors of the building structures. This picture definitely captures the beauty of the market place and shows how pack the crowd is. Love it!!
The crowds can happen so quickly. When you get there early it’s not so bad but before you know it, people are everywhere.
